“The Sameness of Difference was honestly a joy to make. We've never been so unrestricted before in the creative process. All the way from conception to completion, every aspect of the project flowed. It seemed to create itself as we went along. Anybody who's ever made a record knows how rare it is to achieve that kind of flow.”
“If we met and started the group now there's no way we could have done it. We're not old, but Jason and I are close to 30, and Brian is a little over 30. We have women, homes and bills. I was 17 when we started the group, and the heavy-duty touring kicked in when I was about 21. At one point I was homeless for three years. I just didn't have an address. We went on the road and we didn't come back to Tulsa for 19 months. A lot of guys aren't willing to do that. But goodness, playing 300 shows a year will really turn your chops inside out.”
