“My friends joke around with me and say that they put off the race just for me last year because I wasn't able to do it. I didn't want to lose my streak. But really I'm pretty fortunate.”
“There was I time when some people thought I might not be able to snowboard again. But I'm fairly dedicated, and I knew it was just a matter of doing the rehabilitation.”
“When I was first taken to the hospital I told the nurses and doctors that I had six weeks to get better because that's how long it was until they were supposed to hold the Banked Slalom. The nurses looked at me like I was crazy, and the doctors said maybe in six months.”
“The Banked Slalom has a different feel than other races. It's more low-key. It's a special event. I come up here in the winter and see people I haven't seen all summer, and it's like seeing old friends.”
