“Our boxers need technical support and we need the technical coaches who work them to travel with the national teams. They will be of great assistance to our national teams. Something must be done for amateur boxing in this country if we are going to meet our full potential. We need international help. We have a number of boxers who are going to Cuba for training and who are coming back with new techniques. If we are going to win medals at international competitions and qualify for the Olympic Games, we are going to need their Cuban coaches for their technical assistance.”
“Boxing is a technical sport and a number of countries are getting technical. The Indian team in Glasgow brought their Cuban coach along and he was helpful to them because he knew Reno and how Reno fights. These are the adjustments that we need to make. We need technical help and there is no way to escape that, and it has to come from the Bahamas Olympic Association and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture through the government.”

“We have exceptional talent, even in the Family Islands but we have to go in there with something new. The local coaches could only take us so far. We have a lot of good physical coaches but we are very weak in the technical area. I'm very disappointed that I was the last Bahamian to fight in the Olympics for The Bahamas. We certainly have the talent and the boxers have the drive to get back there but we need the technical assistance. Winning Caribbean Championships is not enough. We have to win the big one to help us prepare for the Olympics.”
